After two tall glasses of water, a huge tossed salad, some vitamins, and a good body stretch - I'm ready to share a series of postings with you.

Shall we begin?

Our gal Jaci Wilson Reid ( #1 favorite Socialite in our recent poll), hosted the 7th Annual Luncheon honoring ‘Behind the Bench - The National Basketball Wives’ with hubby Morris in New Orleans on February 16th.

Jaci has been actively involved with ‘Behind The Bench’ for several years and said, “This group of women is devoted to influencing the communities in which they live and visit. But often, their hard work is overshadowed by the work of their superstar husbands. Our luncheon takes a break from the testosterone-fueled All-Star Weekend to shine the spotlight on these women and the great work of ‘Behind the Bench’. This year we have honored those individuals and organizations who have made great strides in rebuilding both the city of New Orleans and Africa.”

An award was presented to Ellen Haddigan , Executive Director of Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF), a non-profit founded by Russell Simmons, Co-Owner of Simmons Jewelry Co received an award. DEF raises funds to educate and uplift poverty-stricken African communities through sales of the Green Initiative jewelry collection.

This year’s event also celebrated community leaders who galvanized resources to assist in post-Katrina New Orleans rehabilitation efforts. The 2008 honorees included, Debra Lee, Chairman and CEO of BET, Chris Duhon of the Chicago Bulls and Peja Stojakovic of the New Orleans Hornets. Actress Gabrielle Union, presented the award to Debra Lee during the luncheon presentation.

The keynote speaker was Dr. Eliot F. Battle, Jr., MD, BIO, Co-founder and Director of the Cultura Medical Spa in Washington DC. Sponsors of the event included Elite Traveler and Guerlain Beauty (who I believe makes the best bronzer for all skin tones).
I'll share more scoop a lil' later folks!
Cheers!
