Many thanks and hugs to Sister Link Robin Verges for sending me this scoop on The One Hundred Black, Inc, 28th Annual Benefit Gala in New York City on February 21st. The event was attended by 700 guests and raised more than $500,000 for various activities of the organization. One of the New York Chapter's founding members is Mega-Philanthropist J. Bruce Llewellyn.

This year OHBM's gala featured 'A Tribute to Women Leaders'- saluting four history-making women—Harriet Michel, President of the National Minority Supplier Development Council; Treasurer of the State of Connecticut Denise Nappier; Dr. Adelaide Sanford, Vice Chancellor Emeritus of the State of New York Board of Regents and Susan L. Taylor, Editor Emerita of Essence Magazine and Founder, National Cares Mentoring Movement.

Guests at the VIP reception included Former Mayor David and Mrs. Dinkins; Congressman Gregory Meeks; New York City Comptroller William Thompson; Deputy Mayor Dennis Walcott; New York City Schools Chancellor Joel Klein; 100 Black Men of America Chairman Emeritus Thomas Dortch; 100 Black Men of America CEO John Hammond; Tuskegee Airman and OHBM past president Dr. Roscoe C. Brown, Jr.; Medgar Evers College President Dr. Edison O. Jackson; and Brooklyn Deputy Borough President Yvonne Graham.
I really appreciate the good works of One Hundred Black Men. We need more Black men to assist in mentoring our precious and endangered male youth.
