Sista at the helm of Harper's Bazaar

I must admit that I was sleeping at the wheel on the news that Amy Dubois Barnett is the new Deputy Editor in Chief of Harper’s Bazaar. She appointed late last year.

Let’s stand on our feet and give Ms. Barnett a round of applause for her great achievement (clap, clap, clap)!

Ms. Barnett (who is married and has one child) has served as an editor at Essence. She has also worked as Editor in Chief at both Honey Magazine (now defunct) and Teen People. She holds a Bachelor degree in Political Science and French from Brown University and a Masters of Fine Arts from Columbia University. She has also completed studies at the Parsons School of Design.

Her new book Get Yours! The Girlfriends Guide to Having Everything You Ever Dreamed of and More is receiving rave reviews.

And, from what I hear from the media gals in New York City (journalists, publicists, and media buyers), Ms. Barnett is an all around nice gal.

Thanks to Ms. Henderson (a friend of this blog) for sending all of the background scoop on Ms. Barnett.
