The Sorors of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. of the Greater Philadelphia Region held a reception last night to celebrate the opening of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Centennial Traveling Exhibit at the African-American Museum of Philadelphia.
The concept of bringing the exhibit to Philadelphia was spearheaded by the Omega Omega Chapter which was founded in 1926 by AKA Founder Ethel Hedgeman Lyle. Hats off to Sorors Leah Smith and Joyce Harrison for an outstanding job well done in coordinating this mammoth feat!
This awesome exhibit provides artifacts and archival material to chronicle the sorority's history. Many elements of the exhibit are interactive and a series of children's events are in the works.
The reception last night was super packed (and the museum was a bit dark) so I did the best I could with these flicks good people. You'll see all generations represented in these photos as it was a good time had by all!
The exhibit will remain in Philadelphia until October 19, 2008.
Have a great weekend everyone!
