Friday's Fabulous Flicks

Super Socialite Genevieve Jones was on the scene at two hot events in New York City recently.

In the first flick, she is attending a private dinner and party for the New York Premiere of Valentino: The Last Emperor on March 18th.

Two days later, she's photographed in at a party in honor of uber-fab shoe designer Brian Atwood's new book Role Play Rene.
So, let's just say that our girl stays on the move!
Good people - have a terrific weekend!
Cheers!

Happy Birthday To Me!

Whew...I made another one!
I was on the phone last night with Special Friend and one of our good mutual buddies (who is a fabulous DJ by the way) who tried to keep me up until Midnight so they could be among the first to help me bring in year 38.

I had a great time today. I ate three types of cake (Rum, Chocolate, & Yellow) and a few cookies. Later, I'm heading out soon to spend time with my family.

By the way good people, I'm planning a relationship chat on Facebook in the next few days with an expert who is a part of our community.

Join my Facebook network and we'll chat soon!

Friday's Fabulous Flick

Here's one of our favorite couples, Janice & Christopher Williams, attending the One Hundred Black Men of New York City Gala last month.

This year's honorees included John Rogers, Jr. Chairman/CEO of Ariel Investments and R. Donahue Peeples, Chairman/CEO of The Peeples Corporation.

Many thanks to Link Robin for sharing this flick!

Good people - have a great weekend!

Cheers!

I Gotta Be Honest

I gotta be honest with you good people.

I have been spending a great deal of time on - shall we say - other things.

For one, I have literally been talking folks off the ledges.

I've had scores of deaths of older family members and friends.

Work is super busy as I work full time in one of our country’s few growth sectors (if you can call it that). I'm on some tight deadlines and it's off the hook.

I'm also trying to keep things sane with Special Friend (he’s great but my focus has been the real life gig and suicidal messages from people).

I just returned from Seattle – which by the way was lovely - but I HATE flying there from the East Coast.

My birthday is next week and I swear that I saw some new wrinkles jump out at me at say 'boooo!'

Next up on my agenda is a trip to upstate Pennsylvania, a brief visit to New York City for the Alpha Kappa Alpha North Atlantic Region Conference, and then down to Roanoke, VA with Special Friend for The Links Eastern Area Conference.

Ergo why I haven’t had been the lil’ blogging machine you’ve grown accustomed to…

Now my vent above is not to suggest that I’m the only one struggling with work/life balance. Hopefully, some of my rantings made you laugh.

Reports from the field is that things are hectic in your lives as well. Many of you are unemployed (or under-employed) and it’s tough.

I really understand. I was downsized from a cool corporate gig in 2003. But instead of being angry, I used it as an opportunity to turn lemons into lemonade.

Eventually, you will get to that place too so remain hopeful.

If our ancestors survived the Middle Passage, slavery, 2 World Wars, governmental experiments, Vietnam, Jim Crow (and I can go on and on), then we have to believe that we have the right stuff inside of us to survive this economic turmoil.

Thank God that you don't sleep on a dirty floor like a good percentage of the world. You have clean water and access to a wealth of resources being American.

This drama is temporary and the market will reverse itself in time.

Life is short. And, while it may really stink that we don’t have as much luchini in our pockets these days, we have to count it a blessing that we are still here.

Be on the lookout for tomorrow’s Fabulous Flick.

I promise to get back the regular writing grind soon folks!

Friday's Fabulous Flicks

Pamela Joyner & White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers
Miss USA 2008 Crystle Stewart & designer Zang Toi

Earlier this week, The School of American Ballet held the Winter Ball in celebration of their 75th Anniversary. More than 400 patrons attended the beautiful black tie affair which raked in over $800,000.

Van Cleef & Arpels served up the extra special glamour by providing Pamela Joyner with jewels and creating the ‘Award of Excellence’ named after Claude Arpels (whose friendship with SAB co-founder George Balanchine inspired the ballet “Jewels” in 1967). This first award was presented to George Balanchine posthumously and was accepted by SAB Artistic Director Peter Martins.

Many of our favorite Super Socialites were in attendance including Pamela Joyner (who was the event’s co-chair), White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers, and Susan Fales-Hill. Miss USA 2008 Crystle Stewart was also at the event.

Both Crystle Stewart and Pamela Joyner wore designs by the fabulous Zang Toi.

Thanks Lauren for the wonderful flicks and details!

Good people have a terrific weekend!

I’m in Seattle attending a conference and will chat with you when I return!

Cheers!

Mellody Hobson Wows The Crowd At The New York City Police Foundation Gala

Super Socialite Mellody Hobson looks smashing in this beautiful gown while attending the 31st Annual New York City Police Foundation Gala last week.
Ms. Hobson was one of the event's co-chairs and yes folks...her beau George Lucas was also in attendance as well. The couple's relationship seems to be as strong as nails as you will rarely see them 'uncoupled' socially.

Cheers!

Friday's Fabulous Flick

Leon and Jacqueline Kinloch look absolutely incredible in this flick taken at Houston Ballet Ball on February 21st.

All proceeds from this event will benefit the Houston Ballet Foundation which plans to create a resident ballet company and training program for its dancers. Leon Kinloch is a member of the The Houston Ballet Foundation Board.

Have a great weekend everyone!!
