This week’s flick features Alexis Clark with Adeline Wong Ettelson at the Young Fellows Ball’s of The Flick Collection in New York City. More than 600 attending the wonderful event entitled Bal de Chinoiserie  took inspiration from Eastern and Eastern inspired artistic elements.

Happy Birthday To Me!

Woo! The years FLEW by and today I turn the BIG 4-0!

It's an exciting time and I'm actually looking at this birthday as a 'call to action' in terms of health, professional, and financial management. More news on this soon.

I also plan to do something special for myself each month until I turn 41. Why should I just let 40 sail by with a limited celebration?!

I'm heading out with Fab Fiance to enjoy a great dinner tonight and then, there's a big family dinner on Saturday.

Forty is fabulous!  I know it will be a good year!

The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) hosted a star-studded gala at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel on March 7th. More than 1,000 supporters attended the event which helped to raise over $1.4 million in donations.

The event was hosted by legendary entertainer Bill Cosby and celebrated the following awardees of the prestigious ROBIE Award: Sean "Diddy" Combs (Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Bad Boy Entertainment Group), Ingrid Saunders Jones (Senior Vice President, The Coca-Cola Company), and Joseph R. Perella (Founding Partner, Chairman and CEO of Perella Weinberg Partners.  

Grammy Award® winning singer, Chrisette Michele performed and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg gave a stirring speech on a new education initiative to support young men in the public school system.

On March 3rd, the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) honored Vernon Jordan with a Lifetime Achievement Award at a gala event in New York City. Jordan is a former Executive Director of UNCF. The UNCP provides financial assistance to more than 60,000 students attending historically Black colleges and universities.

As you can see from the flicks, the glitterati was in full effect! Many thanks to Margot Jordan for sharing her photos!

Constance White has been named Editor in Chief of Essence. She's the former Style Director of Ebay and is considered a fashion industry insider.

On Sunday, January 16th Mireille Schwartz (a long time supporter of this blog) opened her Presidio Heights home to host a celebration for San Francisco Chronicle Style writer Carolyne Zinko and her fiancee Dan Dieguez. The couple became engaged on Christmas morning 2010. 

Mireille and Carolyne are best friends. Mirelle was also celebrating her birthday. Ross Executive Chef Michael Woodward prepared an allergy-free sit down dinner menu including Marin Sun Farms Ribeye and Yukon Gold Potato Gratin with Chanterelles and Hedgehog mushrooms . A small circle of friends & family enjoyed a pre-dinner concert by Mireille's daughter Charlotte, complete with a special rap to roast Carolyne and Dan. Other attendees included Joel Goodrich and Damion Matthews, Joy Venturini Bianchi, Clariity's Creative Director Cameron Noble, and PUC Judge Karen Clopton.
