Dreamy Wedding Gift Alert!

Many of you have been really delightful in giving advice and support for my upcoming Caribbean wedding.

The location is booked, the wedding coordinator is zooming, I'm a little crazy, and Fab Fiance has taken cover under the bed with our cats.

Ahhh! The joys of wedding planning.

In terms of details, you'll just have to wait until after that special anointed day for the full scoop. In the meanwhile, I'll share a few tidbits with you along the way.

So, let's begin with this first piece.

Today I'm launching a new feature called "Dreamy Wedding Gift Alert!" I decided to call this a "dreamy gift alert" because I believe all brides dream incredible accessories while wedding planning. And quiet as it's kept, many brides would love to be surprised with super fabulous gifts in honor of our special day.

The "Dream Wedding Gift Alert" will be a periodic feature until I can figure out what's the best day of the week/month for it. So bear with me as I figure this out...

First up is this Limited Edition Crystal Conch Shell Minaudiere by Judith Leiber. This stunner is hand crafted, beaded in crystal, and retails for $6,195.00. I love it because it is a perfect piece for an island  destination wedding or the honeymoon!

Isn't it incredible?!?!

Sunday's Sensation

This week's flick features Super Socialite Genevieve Jones attending one of the many after parties during New York Fashion Week recently. This gathering was held at the DeLeon Tequila Rock Lounge and - a little birdy told me scores of celebrities and socialites were in the house.

Ms. Jones was out and front row at many of the hot shows including Zac Posen (who is her good friend). She's been rather busy with her accessories line and traveling internationally. It's good to see her back in the States wearing amazing shoes and sporting her unique style.

Due to technical difficulties beyond my control, I was unable to post this photo on Friday as planned.

Rest In Peace Whitney

Whitney Houston's death has really gotten to me. My mind has been cloudy ever since I received the news from a reporter-buddy who was in Hollywood on assignment for The Grammys.

So, I wanted to post this photo in honor of her. What a heartrending tragedy.

Please keep her family (especially her daughter, mother, and ex-husband) in your continuous prayers.

Friday's Fabulous Flick (and some news about my wedding planning) will appear next week.

Friday's Fabulous Flick

This week's flick features (from left to right) Super Socialite Pamela Joyner, Darren Walker, a vice president at the Ford Foundation and member of New York City Ballet's board, and actress Sarah Jessica Parker attending the 2012 New York City Ballet Annual Luncheon. Ms. Parker is also a member of the NYCB board and Ms. Joyner is a past chair of the San Francisco Ballet.

Interestingly, all of the photos I received of this event feature people sitting down. Therefore, we can revel in the full splendor of Ms. Joyner's ensemble.

So, just a note to all of the good PR folks who are friends to this blog - please send full body photos!

We like to see the entire outfit - from the shoes on up!!

Have a super weekend good people!

Friday's Fabulous Flick

Good people, you know I don't normally do the "Hollywood" thing on this blog. But this photo is simply too delightful to not highlight for Black History Month.

This flick features Major Nancy Colon, the first female African-American flight nurse in the U.S. Air Force, Cuba Gooding Jr. and former Tuskegee Airmen pilot Julias Freeman attending the premiere of Red Tails. Major Colon (U.S.A. Ret.) also holds the distinction of be the first African American woman to be commissioned a lieutenant in the Regular U.S. Army Nurse Corps in 1948.

For those who haven't seen it, Red Tails is the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, African-American fighter pilots who fought during World War II. The movie was self financed by filmmaker George Lucas.

Even if you've seen the flick, why not head out and see it again and again?!

Also, it is worthwhile to have your children (or children you mentor) learn more about unsung heroes like Major Colon by reading some books or conducting some research at your local library.

Have a super weekend all!
