This week’s flick features an incredibly gorgeous couple - former New York City Mayor David Dinkins and wife Joyce Dinkins attending the Hospital for Special Surgery Annual Tribune Dinner Monday night at the world famous Waldorf-Astoria in New York City.

This year’s event had more than 1000 guests and raised a whopping $2.6 million+. Super Socialites Kenneth Chenault (CEO of American Express) and Kathryn Chenault (Hospital for Special Surgery Trustee and Dinner Chair) were also in attendance.

Off to Anaheim in The OC

I'm heading to Anaheim this week for an HUGE professional conference. It's always a good thing to connect with colleagues from around the world but it's the getting there that always wears me down.

Lucky for me this is the last trip before my wedding in one month (yea!) and I'm leaving the sweltering heat of the East Coast behind.

And although I like to travel, I don't like leaving Fab Fiance and our kitty cats behind.

Anaheim is known for Disneyland. But typically, I'm so busy in meetings and hob-nobbing that I don't make it over to the theme park. I dunno - maybe I'll swing over there to ride the wheel and hug Mickey & Minnie Mouse. We'll see ;-)

I bought a Samsung 8.9 tablet (love it!) but the Blogger apps doesn't work as well as I thought it would. So you may have to wait until I return before I share some interesting stories and tidbits from this adventure.

Wherever you are today, I hope you are staying cool and planning for an enjoyable summer.

Friday's Fabulous Flick

Last month the National Academy celebrated its 2012 Spring Gala at its newly-renovated Beaux arts home, honoring renowned artist and scholar David Driskell with the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award. Mr. Driskell is emeritus professor at the University of Maryland, College Park (where the David C. Driskell Center for the Study of Visual Arts and Culture of African Americans and the African Diaspora is housed).

This week flick features (from left to right) Janet Rodriguez, Shelia Atchinson, Honoree David Driskell Thelma Driskell, and Camille Cosby celebrating Mr. Driskell’s award.

Mr. Driskell is a leading expert in African American art. He has served as cultural advisor to Camille O. and William H. Cosby and curator of the Cosby Collection of Fine Arts.  In 2000, Mr. Driskell received the National Humanities Medal from President Bill Clinton in a White House ceremony.  In 2007, he was elected as a National Academician by the National Academy.

Friday's Fabulous Flick

This week’s flick features Super Socialite/CEO of Johnson Publishing, Co. Desiree Rogers with Ebs Burnough (center) and Julie Latsko attending the Chicago Art Institute's Women's Board Gala and After Party to celebrate the opening of the Roy Lichtenstein exhibit (whew, a mouth full!)

The event was held last month and I understand it was a smashing success with more than 600 attendees. Ms. Rogers and others were spotted dancing the night away on the After Party’s front stage.

The New York Observer online recently posted a candid interview with Ms. Rogers that's worth reading.

Cheers!
