This week's flicks features attendees at the Second Annual Philadelphia Mayor's Masked Ball on March 9th. The event was held at the Downtown Philadelphia Marriott, with proceeds benefiting the local United Negro College Fund (UNCF). There were approximately 500 attendees at this year's gala.
My hubby and I attended to show our support for one of our "buddy-mooners," Willie F. Johnson, Founder/Chairman of PRWT, Inc. who was an honoree. Mr. Johnson was in attendance with his lovely girlfriend, Phyllis Lawrence (also a buddy-mooner). The other honorees were Sheldon M. Bonovitz, Chairman Emeritus, Duane Morris, LLC and Michael A. Rashid, the recently retired President/ CEO, AmeriHealth Caritas.

This year's event was co-chaired by Daniel J.Hilferty, President/CEO of Independence Blue Cross, Julie Coker-Graham, Senior Vice President, Convention Division - Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau; Craig L. Adams, President/CEO of PECO, and Albert P. Black, CEO of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The co-chairs were supported by an event committee that included various local area chapter presidents of The Links, Incorporated, The Girlfriends, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
I believe the Philadelphia area chapters of The Links, Incorporated had the largest collective group of attendees and donated more than $13,000 for the event. I also believe that the Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church of Philadelphia gave the largest donation from a single church, raising more than $26,000.
UNCF Mayor's Masked Ball events are now taking place over all of the United States. So, be on the lookout for this fun event that raises money for deserving college students.
