Friday's Fabulous Flicks

On Saturday, March 29th, I traveled (thanks to hubby for driving!) in the pouring rain to Baltimore, Maryland for The Baltimore Chapter of The Links, Incorporated's Annual Empowering Women in Leadership Luncheon. The event was held at Morgan State University's Student Center, with proceeds benefiting the chapter's scholarship fund.

The event was truly wonderful - and made even more delightful by my hostess Link Faith Thomas and my virtual hostess Link Lynn Selby (who was unable to attend due to a conflict with her Beta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated Centennial Celebration on the same day).

Although the weather was dreadful, the ladies and gentlemen in attendance donned their Spring celebratory finest. Beautiful bursts of color walked about the room in dresses, suits, hats, and other fabulous accessories. Some of the distinguished guests included Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Blake (a Baltimore Links member), US Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD), and Maryland Lieutenant Governor Anthony G. Brown.

Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie (a Baltimore Links member pictured above) was the keynote speaker and delivered an inspirational word that was received with high praise from event attendees. She also sat down for a conversation/Q&A with the Baltimore Links Chapter President Patricia Jessamy.

Having fun with guests at my table! I'm in the black chapeau in the back!
